Today is Latina Equal Pay Day.
Hoy es el Día de la Igualdad Salarial de las Latinas.
It marks how far into 2026 a Latina has to work to earn what a white, non-Hispanic man was paid in 2025 alone.
For Latinas working full-time, that means 58 cents for every dollar.
My personal perspective on this, aside from the Tech Industry.
I see what this gap means every day in my work with Latino families.
Working mothers, Single mothers
For Latinas working full-time, that means 58 cents for every dollar.
My personal perspective on this, aside from the Tech Industry.
I see what this gap means every day in my work with Latino families.
It is the mother working two jobs -nights included- who can’t make it to parent meetings, volunteer at school, or stay with her kids when they get back home.
It is the High School student who helps pay the rent instead of joining an after-school program, catching up with homework, or spending time with friends.
It is less savings, less security, and fewer opportunities passed on to the next generation.
We gotta stop thinking that Equal pay is only a women’s issue, because it is not.
It is a family issue, an education issue, and a community issue.
Here is what each of us can do:
• Employers: review your pay data and make salary ranges transparent.
• Leaders: mentor, sponsor, and promote Latinas in your organizations.
• Latinas: know your worth, research your market rate, and negotiate. Sabemos lo que valemos.
The gap won’t close by itself. Let’s close it together.
